Octavio Paz y Jorge Luis Borges, entre otros, adoptando en nuestra cultura el haiku clásico japones. En la primera parte, el autor se ciñe al rigor exacto de la forma clásica. En la segunda, define su tematica hacia un lirismo amoroso. En la tercera, experimenta con certera audacia una escritura de gran originalidad: lo que podríamos llamar el haiku narrativo: cuentos de 17 silabas que ya se hallaban en los orígenes del haiku; desde el siglo XVI: el humor.
