Item description
Vintage original 27x41 in. advance US one-sheet poster from the classic 1980's western comedy/drama romance, BRONCO BILLY, released in 1980 by Warner Bros. and directed by Clint Eastwood, in which an idealistic, modern-day cowboy struggles to keep his Wild
West show afloat in the face of hard luck and waning interest. The cast includes Clint Eastwood, Sandra Locke, Geoffrey Lewis, Scatman Crothers, and Sam Bottoms.
This advance one-sheet poster was issued before the film was released in theaters and is considered more rare than the general release posters annd features great artwork by Roger Huyssen and Gerard Huerta. Unrestored and folded as originally issued, it is in very fine condition with random signs of light wear along the top edge. There are no pinholes, tears, or stains.
This movie was shot on a very low budget compared to other
movies made by Clint Eastwood.
The production shoot for this movie ran for less than six weeks and was completed around two to four weeks ahead of schedule. This is one of Eastwood's personal favorites of his
own movies. In a French interview, Eastwood said of this
movie, "It was an old-fashioned theme, probably too old fashioned since
the film didn't do as well as we hoped. But if, as a film director, I ever
wanted to say something, you'll find it in Bronco Billy." Scatman Crothers stated
that his role as Doc Lynch was his second favorite after his role in The King of Marvin Gardens (1972). It was also Sondra Locke's favorite of the movies she did
with Eastwood. The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City
invited Clint Eastwood to present this movie at a special screening,
essentially marking the acceptance of him as an American filmmaker of note.
