Item description
Offered here is a vintage original 11x14 in. US title lobby card from the popular 1950's "mind game" murder drama WITNESS TO MURDER, released in 1954 by United Artists and directed by Roy Rowland. Cheryl Draper (Barbara Stanwyck) sees a
murder through her bedroom window, but no one will believe her. She is stalked by
the suave killer (George Sanders), who first takes steps to convince police she
is crazy, but she has ally in a sympathetic policeman (Gary Merrill).
The design is dominated by a large shot of George Sanders as he chokes Barbara Stanwyck along with three more headshots of Stanwyck in various poses of fear. The bottom features artwork of a scene showing a woman falling from the top of a building. This vintage original title lobby card is unrestored in near-fine condition with some torn staple holes along the center of the left side with one staple hole and a scratch in the upper right dark background area; a fingerprint smudge in the right border; and scattered small creases and/or signs of wear on the borders. The color tints are fresh and vibrant without any signs of fading.
The film was released less than a month before Rear Window (1954), to which the
film bears plot similarities. George Sanders and Gary
Merrill had previously worked together on All About Eve (1950).
