Vintage Sliester USA Sterling Silver Cavalry Shank Copper Low Port Bit # 32-06 Click image to enlarge Description This is a RARE vintage Sterling Silver Sliester Surgical Steel bit made in Sanger, featuring a low 1-1/8 inch tall copper port #04 and Sliester's Cavalry shank #32. The Sliester design was originally trademarked in December 1964. This bit is in well maintained pre owned condition without any visible damage. Very few Sliester bits were sold with overlaid Sterling Silver. There are many bits available with engraved Stainless Steel cheeks which are in high demand, but the Sterling Silver bits were often custom ordered and are exceedingly rare. Each Sliester Bit is custom made, never mass produced, offering a fine feeling of balance and they are very difficult to find in retail stores. Sliester Bits feature the ?SQUARE PIN.? This keeps the cheek pieces from turning and pinching the horse?s mouth, yet allows all the action required in a loose jawed bit. This bit is from Sliester's "Original Series" and this line is what started the company and has proven over the past 5 decades to be of great design and craftsmanship. This line is the heaviest bit Sliester offers, weighing in at 19.79 ounces which aids in steadying a horse?s head. The 8-1/2 inch long cheek is Style #32 and features a 2-1/2 inch purchase for a 3.4 to one leverage ratio. SLIESTER has been making bits since 1954 and this one is FULLY MARKED, bearing the Sliester-Bit name on the slobber bar and the location of Sanger, CA on the inside left cheek with Surgical Stainless Steel on the inside right cheek. Sliester bits are never mass produced and always a good heavy duty bit that will last you a lifetime lasts and lasts.
