This is a well maintained pre owned engraved German Silver overlaid stainless steel Argentine style curb snaffle bit. The bit has some very light oxidation on the sweet iron mouthpiece from storage. This Argentine snaffle would be a great bit for the horse that has graduated out of the snaffle bit and is ready for curb pressure and some leverage.
This unmarked bit is made in the California Vaquero style. The short, curved-back shank allows you to easily flex the horse's head laterally for correct circles and turns. Overall, a really good bit for a horse that needs to pay more attention but isn't ready for a longer shanked bit. This is the bit to use to really lighten up a horse that is normally ridden in a snaffle or a short shanked transition bit. The shanks measure 5.5 inches long with a 2.25 inch long purchase for a mild 2.44 to 1 leverage ratio. The sweet iron snaffle mouthpiece is 4.5 inches wide by 3/8 inch in diameter and has copper inlays on the back to encourage salivation. The bit weighs 11.5 ounces so it is a very nice light bit for a young or green horse moving from the snaffle to a shanked bit. Don't miss out on the chance to add this beautiful German silver bit to your training and show collection.
