Item description
Vintage original 11x14 in. US title lobby card from the classic 1960's action/adventure drama, THE TARTARS, released in 1961 by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) and directed by Richard Thorpe. Orson Welles is tartar leader Burundai, who takes the place of his brother, Togrul (Folco Lilli), killed during the battle against the Slavs, as Viking chieftain Oleg (Victor Mature) refuses to join him. After the kidnapping of Togrul's daughter (Liana Orfei) by the Vikings, and Oleg's wife, by the Tartars, the two leaders have a fight. Problems ensue. The cast includes Bella Cortez, Arnoldo Foa, Luciano Marin, and Bella Cortez.
This great beefcake with a side of cheesecake image depicts Oleg (Victor Mature) fighting with Burundai (Orson Welles) as beautiful Helga (Liana Orfei) looks appropriately unperturbed. It is unrestored in fine- condition with random sigs of wear with some discoloration in the borders; the outline of a large paperclip in the top border near the right corner; a 3 in. vertical crease down the right thigh of Victor Mature. There are no pinholes, tears, or other flaws and the color tints are fresh and vibrant without any signs of fading.
