General Motor established the Name Terex from Terra (Earth) and Rex (King) in 1970. It was a Construction Heavy Earth Moving Vehicle Division. Between an Antitrust Suit and 1980s Recession, GM sold the division to IBH Holdings, and eventually Terex reverted back to GM. Then split into two companies, one based in Hudson Ohio and finally sold to Northwest Engineering. In 1987 Northwest Engineering changed it name to Terex and in 1991 was Listed on the NYSE. Now it is a Global Business that is still involved in Construction Equipment. A Piece of an Evolving Company's History.
