Item description
Vintage original 3.5 x 5.25 in. German postcard featuring the attractive German actress MALY DELSCHAFT. She is depicted in what we believe is a publicity shot with fellow German actor/director Leo Peukert as she sits behind the wheel of a vintage convertible. This postcard was signed in black ink by Maly Delschaft and she noted "Berlin - 1926." Printed by the renowned Ross-Verlag company of Berlin, Germany, this vintage original "country of origin" postcard is in very fine condition with some small random smudges in the borders. It is in outstanding condition for being sent through the German mail and the cancellation is dated May 6, 1926.
Note: This image could be from a German silent film released in 1925 or 1926, but we could only locate one collaboration between Maly Delschaft and Leo Peukert which was much later in 1938.
Provenance: Approximately 8 years ago, we purchased a collection of two albums of vintage original German postcards from a rare book dealer at an antiquarian book fair in Pasadena, California (see photos). Approximately half of the postcards were signed by the respective personalities and the ones that were dated by the actors are all dated "1926." We were informed by the dealer that these photographs came from a film collector in Germany who acquired the postcards at the time they were issued and then had them signed by the respective actors when he met them in person. We are now pleased to make these vintage original postcards available to other collectors.
Maly
Delschaft was born on December 4, 1898 in Hamburg,
Germany as Amalie Köster-Delschaft. She was an actress, known for The Last Laugh (1924), Die drei Portiermädel (1925) and The White Horse Inn (1926). She
died on August 20, 1995 in Berlin, Germany. Leo
Peukert was born on August 26, 1885 in Munich,
Germany. He was an actor and director, known for Küsse, die töten (1916), Der müde Theodor (1918) and Schwarzwaldkinder (1922). He was married to Sabine
Impekoven. He died on January 6, 1944 in Tiengen, Germany.
Ross-Verlag in Berlin was a German
publishing house specialized in photographs and photo postcards of artists. The
owner of the company was Heinrich Ross (b. 10 August 1870; d. after 1954 as
emigrant in the USA).
