Item description
JVC KD-D40J mid-line vintage cassette deck from ~1982. Beautiful and bright LED Spectro Peak EQ indicator and VU display. Logic, PLAY and REC and Auto-Stop functions tested working. Other than exceptions noted below, it plays perfectly fine and sounds great. Drive belt and pinch roller found in good condition. Light servicing lube, contact clean and Rubber Renue on pinch roller. Features ANRS JVC NR, Dolby B/C, Two full-sized heads, metal tape capability, mic inputs and phones output. Flywheel powered take-up spindle improves W/F performance.
EXCEPTIONS
1) Does not REW, or FF - a common failure of this model; pawl that directs gear truck to rewind or fast forward is broken; pawl removed and included for reference when parts shopping. Allow motor to stop fully if you push REW or FF before playing.
2) PAUSE button works but doesn't stay pushed in - likely due to a weak spring.
