Vintage original 8.5 x 11 in. Green Revisions Final Draft script from the 1990's western television series, DEAD MAN'S GUN, an original anthology created by Howard Spielman and Ed Spielman. It is from the pilot episode, which was entitled The Great McDonacle, in which Harry McDonacle (John Ritter) is part of a traveling group of performers going from town to town. Using a prop pistol which fires buckshot instead of bullets, he never misses his target. That is, until he runs into the Dead Man's Gun. The cast includes Teryl Rothery, Douglas Arthurs, Jay Brazeau, Luc Corbeil, Rod Crawford, John "Bear" Curtis, Adrien Dorval, and Kris Kristofferson. This Green Revisions Final Draft script is dated December 1, 1996. It consists of 52 pages on various colored paper stocks (to indicate the different revisions) plus the title page, all of which were 3-hole punched and bound with one grommet without any outer wrapper. There are no markings or handwritten notations present within. This particular script belonged to the show's executive producer, Henry Winkler. It is complete in overall very fine condition. We attended this sale in person and met Mr. Winkler, who attended as well and spoke to the audience several times throughout the session during which items from his personal collection were sold to benefit his daughter's charity. Dead Man's Gun is a western anthology series that ran on Showtime from 1997 to 1999. The series followed the travels of a gun as it passed to a new character in each episode, and the gun would change the life of whoever possessed it. The executive producer was Henry Winkler and each episode was narrated by Kris Kristofferson. Set in the Old West, this anthology follows the eponymous artifact, a handsome, yet cursed, gun that brings either disaster or fortune to whoever possesses it. In some cases of the former consequence, the gun's more villainous owners are killed at the end of the episode, while in others they live, but suffer for their misdeeds. In a similar fashion to The Twilight Zone and The Outer Limits, there are often twist endings to the stories. For example, in the episode, "The Collector", the main character discovers that his servant is actually the infamous criminal, El Lobo, who then scalps him. And the series finale, "A Just Reward," provides a twist ending to the series as a whole when it is ultimately revealed that the gun's original owner was the Grim Reaper.
