BUCCANEER:
A Novel
By Dudley Pope
London: Secker Warburg/An Alison Press Book, (1981).
First edition, first printing.
Statement "First published in England 1981" to the copyright page.
Illustrated with a double-page spread map.
The first installment in the historical, nautical adventure series featuring Ned Yorke is set in the 1650s and involves Sir Thomas Whetstone, the British capture of Jamaica, and the Spanish viceroy and buccaneering raids.
Pope is a naval historian with real-life navy and ship experience, and wrote numerous histories and nautical novels including the Ramage series.
A few tiny, faint tan dots to the upper page edges, lower corner tips minutely bumped, else nearly fine in cream-purple linen boards with silver embossed titles and decoration to the spine; in a fine dust jacket; original 6.95 net price still intact to the front inner flap.
