Item description

Vintage original 8x10 in. US single-weight glossy photograph from the popular 1970's Hollywood- and canine-themed period comedy, WON TON TON, THE DOG WHO SAVED HOLLYWOOD, released in 1976 by Warner Bros. and directed by Michael Winner. In 1924, Estie Del Ruth (Madeline Kahn) comes to Hollywood to become an actress, but the dog that followed her becomes the star. However, Hollywood has its own rules of success. The cast includes Dennis Morgan, Shecky Greene, Phil Leeds, Cliff Norton, Teri Garr, Romo Vincent, Bruce Dern, Sterling Holloway, and a slew of other big names. The image features a close exterior publicity shot of Joan Blondell (as the "Landlady") as she flashes that same beautiful smile for the viewer. Lightly trimmed to 8 x 9.75 in., it is in fine condition with two small creases on the upper right corner; a 2.5 in. diagonal crease on the top right corner; and a much smaller crease on the lower right corner. There are no pinholes, tears, stains, writing, or other flaws. The film was originally called "Won Ton Ton, the Dog Who Saved Warner Brothers" and based on the career of Rin-Tin-Tin. The story was written by Cy Howard in 1971, who hired Arnold Schulman to write the script and developed by David Picker at Warner Brothers. He took the script with him when he moved to Paramount Pictures, causing the title to be changed. Filming started in August 1975.
