I guess the avocado was 'un-business like' and needed to be hidden, but not worth it enough to buy a new phone. I found it in a thrift store cabinet with a very high price where it had been for a very long time. No one else would buy it and I purchased it for a quarter of the asking price. I am a professional artist and I have access to chemicals and tools that the average person probably cannot get or does not know about. Their use involves understanding the hazards of handling chemicals, sharps, abrasives etc. Please do not try retoring plastic at home unless you really know what you are doing! My restoration involved removing the chassis, abrading the black paint off with fine grit, chemically flash-melting the surface back to smooth and finished with many coats of polyurethane for gloss. Buffing for gloss was not effective. It is not perfect but I think it looks fantastic and is an excellent display piece.
