Item description

Small vintage hand made and hand painted ceramic/porcelain brooch in the shape of a heart with flowers. A pin is glued on the back. It is 1 3/8" high and 1 1/4" wide. The brooch comes from an Estate sale of Sue Bender's personal collection of ceramics, art, and jewelry. About Sue Bender: Sue Bender, born in NYC, was a well-know writer, ceramics artist, lecturer, and art collector. She is famous for her โ€œplain and simpleโ€, crooked ceramics works that were exhibited on both coasts of the USA. Her ceramics was inspired by simple, down to earth Amish primitive art. It was aimed to be used in everyday life rather than being displayed on walls and shelves. She also wrote three well-selling books. Sue Bender collected art, ceramics, quilts, and jewelry. She was married to Richard Bender, a prominent architect and honor professor at U.C. Berkeley. Note: I sell vintage items that were pre-owned and used. They may have signs of wear. This is not a defect but a natural character of a used product. I try to provide honest descriptions as detailed as possible. I do a research about an item that I sell to give you a story to share with your family and friends. I ask my buyers to carefully read description, examine pictures, and ask questions prior to placing an order to avoid returns, losses, and disappointment for both of us. Thank you.
