The item is a vintage cast in brass in the form of a Hessian soldier from the US Revolutionary war (see photos). The bookend is marked on the underside of the base for the maker: BALDWIN (see photos). The bookend is made of brass so you could polish it up to a bright and shiny finish if desired (see photos). This item was made in the US and it is American in origin (see photos). The item measures in total about 8.25 inches high, it is about 2 inches from the front side to the back side and it is about 6.75 inches wide from side to side at the base.
