Item description

Canco stands for the Continental Can Company, a major American manufacturer of metal containers. Founded in 1904, Canco became one of the largest producers of tin cans in the 20th century. The Chicago marking indicates it was produced in one of their Chicago-area facilities. The "O" is likely a plant code or inspector?s mark. So, while Fruit Cake Bakers of America filled and branded the tin, the Continental Can Company (Canco) actually manufactured the physical container.
