Vintage ANCHOR HOCKING "GRIP-LOCK HANDLE", Lock On Handle! Pat. Pending---This Grip-Lock TM handle was made for moving hot or cold Anchor Hocking dishes. The handle slides over A-H. handles and snap locks onto the hot dishes and snaps closed to allow lifting. When moved, a lever on end is released to remove the handle. The hand is protected from the metal construction by heavy plastic (possibly Bakelite but I cannot confirm). The grip handle is 7.5 inches long and 1-1/2 in. wide. It was produced in the Anchor Hocking Plant, Lancaster, OH USA The gripping portion of the handle which interfaces with the dish measures 1-1/4 x 1 in. The closed grip measurement is 1/4 inch.
