Item description

USMC used this crate to send shipments of nails in 50 pound quantities to shoe companies who manufactured shoes. it is a rectangular box measuring 13 3/4 by 6 1/4 inches and 6 1/2 inches high. The box is not dovetailed but it is nailed. All of the nails seem to be original to me except 2 that have been replaced. There is a section near the top on the outside of the side of the box that has a chunk missing measuring about 4 inches. There are visible graphics on the front and back that are light in black and on one side there are some markings that cannot be read. It has some gouges and scratches as any wooden crate might but is a really neat box to repurpose. Because the name of the company is USMC it also may draw some curiosity from visitors about the company using the initials of the Marine Corp. I did not rinse it out--but I would if I were keeping it because these boxes tend to hold dust. It has been in my garage and not in the house with some bottles in it. We must collect 6% Pennsylvania Sales and Use Tax at checkout. Thanks for stopping by!
