U.S. ARMY, CIRCA 1905-1918, ENGINEERS, D COMPANY, ENLISTED, CAP INSIGNIA, GILT Heavy brass construction, screw-back, with applied company letter. From 1905-1918, Corps of Engineers soldiers wore this size of cap insignia. This gilt color was worn on dress caps. the company letter indicates it was used by a company member between1905, when smaller castles were introduced, and 1916, when regiments were formed.
