VINTAGE / RARE Ping Karsten I Orange Dot Irons 1969: Ping celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2009. Since 1959, Ping has grown from a workshop in Karsten Solheims' garage to a company that employs more than 1,000 workers. Karsten Solheim, the founder of Ping, quickly gained a reputation for innovation and that quality has been particularly evident in Ping irons throughout the decades. Ping has produced some of the most recognizable irons in history and it remains a leading iron producer, popular with amateurs and professionals alike. The Ping K1 irons were launched in 1969. They featured an "assortment of features and innovations" such as perimeter weighting. The use of perimeter weighting enabled Ping to create a club head that was more forgiving. It was also produced from an "investment casted 17-4ph stainless steel". While the launch was in 1969, Ping had been developing the technologies for some time. As early as 1961, Ping experimented with heel-toe weighting by milling a small cavity into the back of the club head. These experiments would eventually result in the creation of the innovative K1 irons. Ping Golf started as a family putter company simply working out of a garage. Today, it is one of the most forward-thinking, technology and data-driven golf companies in the world producing clubs in every categoryโ€”all while still being 100-percent family-owned and operated. Thatโ€™s something that canโ€™t be said about any of the other major golf OEMs. From a garage to an entire campus, which is what Ping likes to call its headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona, the company has produced some of the most iconic sets of irons ever made, and essentially invented game improvement clubs. And Ping still owns the title for producing the top-selling iron of all time. To look back at the history of Ping irons is to look at a timeline of constantly improving products and technology. Review: "I previously had Ram Memorials which was my first set of irons. So this is my second set and I have gotten a lot better. These clubs are good in my opinion. When you hit them good, you can't even feel the ball, and I am able to do this 3 out of 4 times. I can hit these a lot farther and higher then my previous clubs. Another thing I'd like to point out is that the long irons are easy to hit. For some reason, I can hit the 4 iron over 170 yards which is really good for me and I can get good carry on it. I hit my 7 iron like 130. they have improved my game and now with my new Nike driver I have been hitting a lot more GIRs. If you're a beginner these clubs will do the trick because they are good when you hit it solid it goes far. Not really sure why I wrote this, because I am not very experienced in writing reviews and I'm not very experienced with clubs but I like these better than I expected" This vintage set is in exceptional condition, there are some scratches and dings, have original grips, great looking shafts, as well as almost no groove wear. These irons will be a great 10 club set for many years. Ping Steel shafts in excellent condition, unknown flex. Golf Pride Pro Only Grips have been kept for originality and authenticity. Grooves are sharp, clean, and deep. Matching Serial Numbers on 3,4, 6-SW irons 1 and 5 irons are Black Dot and are longer than Standard Orange Dot length.
