Additional Details ------------------------------ Product description: The Vision is a signed and numbered limited edition print by Chuck Ren. Indians, from the jungles of the Amazon to the snows of Canada, believed they had a special kinsmanship with certain animals. Young warriors would go into the wilderness on their "Visionquest". During days of meditation and fasting, an animal or bird would appear, either physically or in a vision, and become their guardian and protector for the rest of their lives. Certain birds and animals were held in higher esteem. The eagle was one of the most powerful of this group. The image size is 17" x 24 3/4". Overall size is 20 1/2" x 27 3/4". It was published by Gray Stone Press in 1992 in an edition size of 1,200. About the Artist: Chuck Ren grew up in the Southwest surrounded by Cowboys and Papago Indians. He enjoyed Arizona Highways and was familiar with the work of Fredric Remington and Charles Russell. After earning a degree in fine art from the University of Arizona in Tucson, he worked as a commercial artist. He later became a free-lance illustrator. The idea of creating Western art intrigued Ren. He continued his commercial career for a few years but his commercial assignments became "tedious". In 1982, he moved to Sedona, Arizona. He enjoyed acquiring Western artifacts and whenever possible he used them and clothing from the era of the Plains Indians on his models. Ren's early Western paintings were well received. The completion of "Mystic Warrior" and the popularity of its prints gave him wide national acclaim. Respect for the spirit of the Plains warrior and an attempt to keep the memory of his significance from vanishing from the American Consciousness provided a two-fold impetus for the artist. He did meticulous research to adhere to his strict standard of authenticity. He would also have costumes reproduced for him whenever he could not locate the original. Chuck Ren passed on in October 1995, a distinguished talent leaving a legacy of the Native Americans.
