Item description

Vintage original 11x14 in. US lobby card from the 1930's western, THE FIGHTING GRINGO, released in 1939 by RKO Radio Pictures and directed by David Howard. Ben Wallace (William Royle) is after Don Aliso's (Lucio Villegas) rancho. But Wallace has a dumb-witted accomplice in Rance Potter (Glenn Strange) and this is who Barton thinks he can trick into a confession. The image features a great exterior scene during a gunfight seven men in front of a Spanish-style building. On the men on the right is shown in mid-air as he falls from his horse; another men lies dead near the well in the center of the image while a man standing near the left aims his gun at the man on horseback in the center. George O'Brien is depicted in the bottom right portion of the card looking somewhat frazzled as a group of men try to harass him. The color tints on this card are especially rich and bold. On the center of the verso is a rubber stamp credit in black ink indicating that this card is from the famous "Cozy Theatre Collection" (which was a theatre in downtown Los Angeles where a huge amount of vintage movie memorabilia was found and subsequently sold-off). This vintage original lobby card is in fine+ condition with three pinholes in the top left corner; a light 2-in. horizontal crease on the center of the top border with one pinhole in the right half of the top border; one pinhole in the right border beneath the center with a small crease with a chip beneath it on the right border; a small circular stain in the bottom right corner; and one pinhole on the bottom left corner where the tip of the corner has torn diagonally and is just barely hanging on. The colors are as fresh and vibrant as when this card was printed in 1939 and it looks even nicer in person. The Fighting Gringo; RKO Radio Pictures; 1939; dir: David Howard; cast: George O'Brien, Lupita Tovar, Lucio Villegas, William Royle, Glenn Strange, Slim Whitaker, LeRoy Mason, Mary Field, Martin Garralaga, Dick Bottiler, Bill Cody, Cactus Mack, Chris-Pin Martin.
