12inch x 18inch Poster Programme for Charivari, Teatre Nuveo, 1927. Barcelona. Teatro Nuevo was inaugurated in the year 1901, it staged performances including light opera, vaudeville and melodramas, but above all it became famous for its revue and sarsuela (Catalan light opera) premieres. It was on the stage of the Teatro Nuevo that Cançó d?amor i de guerra (Song of Love and War) was first performed, before becoming one of the most successful lyrical pieces of the entire history of Catalan sarsuela. Created by Josep Sans i Alumà (1897-1974). He was a disciple of Francesca Labarta cartoonist, between 1919 and 1936. He devoted himself to the art of decoration and costume design for various magazines that are represented in the music halls of Barcelona with titles like Cri-Cri, Chauffeur, to the Palace, Charivari, and color and then he worked on canvas. During the Spanish Civil war he produced many posters before being sent to prison by the Franco government. There is a border around the image. The image size is correct.
