Item description

Vintage original 11x14 in. US title lobby card from the 1920's silent film comedy short, THE BIG CITY, produced in 1926 by Century Film and directed by Francis Corby. The image features an exterior shot of the film's star, Edna Marian, trying to hold onto the back of a bus as she clutches a large and heavy-looking travel bag. It is unrestored in good- condition only with chips of varying sizes on the left border; random small creases and a tear in the top border; signs of wear on the top right corner; a 0.5 in. horizontal tear on the right border; a 1 in. diagonal chip on the bottom right corner; and a 0.75 in. vertical tear, small smudges and a 1 in. diagonal crease on the bottom border. Edna Marion, also known as Edna Marian (born Edna Marion Hannam; December 12, 1906 – December 2, 1957) was a silent motion picture actress who appeared in a number of Hal Roach short comedies. Born in Chicago, Marion played comic supporting roles in more than 60 films. She began her career in the 1920's, starring in Edward Ludwig's Broadway Beauties, followed by several appearances in Francis Corby's productions and spending a year (1927-1928) at the Hal Roach studios, alongside comedians Charley Chase, Laurel and Hardy, and others. Her career at the Hal Roach Studies ended abruptly on April 7, 1928 after being employed since April 25, 1927. She also worked for Century, Paramount, and Universal studios. In 1926, Edna Marion was named one of the WAMPAS Baby Stars, along with Mary Astor, Mary Brian, Dolores Costello, Joan Crawford, Dolores del Río, Janet Gaynor, and Fay Wray.
