Item description

Tally's Corner: A Study of Negro Streetcorner Men. By Elliot Liebow. Published 1967 by Little, Brown and Co. Hardcover, no dj, 260 pp., 8vo. Elliot Liebow wrote a sensitive and timely book about a shifting collection of anchorless adult Negro males who came together more of less regularly on Tally's Corner in a blighted section of Washington's inner city during the early 1960's. The Carry-out shop on Tally's Corner was a fixed spot around which their complex but limited lives eddied and flowed. Condition: Ex-Libris exterior and interior markings. Book is complete, and intact, with solid binding. Interior pages are in good condition, with a few passages marked in pencil. Cover has library tape-reinforced spine with original spine title adhered on top, and similarly reinforced inside boards. Exterior boards have moderate rub marks and fabric ripple, and some fabric loss at corners.
