In 1830, the Blessed Mother (Virgin Mary) presented herself to Saint Catherine Laboure in an oval frame, standing on the earth. On each hand were many rings of different colors shining light on the earth. Around the outside of the oval frame were the words O Marie, concue sans peche, priez pour nous qui avons recours a vous (in English, O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee). The reverse shows the rest of the vision shown to Catherine, a circle of 12 stars, a letter M topped by a cross, the Sacred Heart of Jesus crowned by thorns, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary pierced with swords.
