Item description

St. Michael the Archangel ?4 Sizes ? based on a Vintage Holy Card ? Catholic Art Print ? Archival Quality St. Michael the ArchangelRestored from a Vintage Holy CardCalm and victorious, the utterly faithful Archangel Michael (whose name means, "Who is Like God?") has vanquished Satan, enemy of God and the human race. The ground has flames from the battle, the devil is grimacing and twisted in his defeat. Michael is calm and has been calm, because he fights for God, and there is none like God. Michael is one of the three archangels mentioned in the Bible. The other two are Gabriel and Raphael, whose names mean, respectively, "God is My Strength" and "God has Healed." The El part of their names is from El Shaddai, a Biblical name for God which is usually translated as Lord Almighty. The Catechism says something very interesting about angels (329-330): "'Angel' is the name of their office, not of their nature. If you seek the name of their nature, it is 'spirit'; if you seek the name of their office, it is 'angel': from what they are, 'spirit', from what they do, 'angel.'" With their whole beings the angels are servants and messengers of God. Because they "always behold the face of my Father who is in heaven" they are the "mighty ones who do his word, hearkening to the voice of his word". As purely spiritual creatures, angels have intelligence and will: they are personal and immortal creatures, surpassing in perfection all visible creatures, as the splendor of their glory bears witness." (source: usccb.org)Carl Poellath had an engraving and medal company which made holy medals, and occasionally got involved in other Catholic goods. The company moved to Schrobenhausen, Germany, in 1884, and continues to this day. We carry other prints of theirs. (source: www.britishmuseum.org)September is the Catholic Month of the Holy Angels. We hope to offer this as a holy card, first through our Holy Card of the Month subscription, found in our other platform. Later, in packs of 10+ on Etsy. ** IMPORTANT ** IMAGE IS SMALLER THAN THE PAPER!! There is a white border around the image! .5" for 5x7, 1.3" for 8.5x11, 1.6" for 11x14".
