St. Gregory the Great ? 3 sizes ? Based on an Antique Holy Card ? Catholic Art Print ? Archival Quality
St. Gregory the GreatBased on a Vintage Holy Card - Anonymous ArtistSt. Gregory (540-604) was acclaimed Great because he accomplished so many things as Pope. He changed the calendar to what it is today. He sent the first large scale mission from Rome, converting the Anglo Saxons. He changed the Mass, including placing the Our Father where it still is today, an act which led to him being known in the Middle Ages as "The Father of Christian Worship." A prolific writer, his works on theology and clerical life were common texts for centuries. He did great things socially, doing more for the people of Rome than the Emperors, including feeding many during a great famine, and ransoming prisoners from the invading barbarians. He then aligned the barbarians with the Papacy and Orthodox Catholicism. He did all that and much more.Note how, in this beautiful holy card from the turn of the last century, the angel is holding up a book of music. Gregory is cantoring the Mass in what we call Gregorian Chant, which is named after him. Gregory is one of the 37 Doctors of the Church. He the patron saint of musicians, singers, students, and teachers. His Feast Day is March 12. (source: Catholic.org)!!!IMPORTANT !!! THE IMAGE IS SMALLER THAN THE PAPER! There is a blank white margin around the paper, 1/2" for 5x7", 1.3" for 8.5x11", and 1.6" for 11x14". This border lets our pictures look good framed without a matt. -Acid-free paper. -Archival pigments to last for generations without fading. -Cardboard backer. -Enclosed in a tight-fitting, crystal clear bag -Comes with the above story of the image.
