Item description

Catalog Number: 465212-1 Condition Details: HYPE-STICKER on front. Import from Europe. Made in Holland. Vinyl plays nicely (play-graded). Double LP. Gate-fold cover looks good; a few creases near edges; very light-scuffing and surface impressions (front/back/inner-gate); slight discoloration (inner-gate/back). Inner-sleeves are original (liner notes/CBS ads). Spine is easy-to-read with very mild-wear. Little shelf-wear along top-edge, heavier wear along bottom-edge and corners. Openings are crisp with signs of light use and a few divots. 1991 pressing. (Not a cut-out.) Tracks: Parsley, Sage, Rosemary And Thyme Scarborough Fair/Canticle Patterns Cloudy Homeward Bound The Big Bright Green Pleasure Machine The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy) The Dangling Conversation Flowers Never Bend With The Rainfall A Simple Desultory Philippic (Or How I Was Robert McNamara'd Into Submission) For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her A Poem On The Underground Wall 7 O'Clock News/Silent Night Bookends Bookends Theme Save The Life Of My Child America Overs Voices Of Old People Old Friends Bookends Theme Fakin' It Punky's Dilemma Mrs. Robinson (From The Motion Picture "The Graduate") A Hazy Shade Of Winter At The Zoo About The Record: Simon Garfunkel's first masterpiece, Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme was also the first album on which the duo, in tandem with engineer Roy Halee, exerted total control from beginning to end, right down to the mixing, and it is an achievement akin to the Beatles' Revolver or the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds album, and just as personal and pointed as either of those records at their respective bests. The album reached Platinum in US, and reached No. 4 on US Billboard 200. Bookends is a concept album that explores a life journey from childhood to old age. Side one of the album marks successive stages in life, the theme serving as bookends to the life cycle. Side two largely consists of previously-released singles and of unused material for The Graduate soundtrack. Sales for Bookends were substantial in the US, and the album produced the No. 1 single Mrs. Robinson. The album sold well in the US and in the United Kingdom, where it peaked at No. 1.
