145 mm x 205 mm Serenade for string orchestra С major, ÐÑ? 48, was composed by Ð . Tchaikovsky in the autumn of 1880. The initial piece was implied as symphony or string quintet. The first performance took place in Moscow among the composer's friends, where the Serenade was demonstreted in four hands' version. However, the public premiere dates October 18, 1881, when the Serenade was demonstrated at the concert of the Petersburgian Department of the Russian Musical Society conducted by Ð. Napravnik. The Moscow premiere took place on January 16, 1882. That concert was organized by the Moscow Department of the Russian Musical Society. Ð?. Erdrnansderfer conducted the composition. The Serenade was one of Tchaikovsky's favourite creatures during his life. Ðе ehjoyed conducting it, in particular during his European and American tours.
