Made in China Design: The bottom half is cylindrical but the top half resembles a slanted lamp shade. Material: Clay, semi matte glaze Condition: In great shape and clean except for a bit of dirt on the foot due to shelf wear. No chips, cracks, fleabites or crazing. History: Pre-owned. This Russ Ceramic Candleholder sports primitive designs that create a quaint look. The main design on the lid is of a farm and rolling hills. On the base are 3 angels hovering, a heart, a dove, the sun, and flowers. All of the designs are created in a bah-relief manner. The designs on the base have a deep ridge to outline them, while the lid has 2-Dimensional sculpting. The base designs have hand painted dashes which give a suggestion of being sewn on. The lid has 3/8 inch openings for venting which appear at random around the surface. However for an item that has been previously owned, there is no wax residue or soot on the inside areas. It looks as though it was never used for a candle holder, and used instead as a decorative accent in the previous owner's home. Some of the warning labels are starting to peel up, and there is a bit of dirt on the foot from shelf wear. This candleholder gives an impression of country decor. It is light-hearted in it's design and looks as though it was created to lift one's spirit. This item has a solid feel to it.
