The plate features Mary and the baby Jesus, surrounding by radiating rays of light. The inscription includes the date 1908 and the word JUL -- the Danish word for CHRISTMAS, pronounced like the English word YULE. The design was created by Christian Thomsen, who created many of Royal Copenhagen?s most popular figurines. It is embossed on Danish porcelain and hand painted in traditional Copenhagen blue under the glaze. Diameter approximately 6 inches (15 cm). Pierced foot for hanging wire.
