ROSENTHAL 1913 Christmas Plate CHRISTMAS LIGHTS is the title of the 1913 Rosenthal Christmas Plate. It features a cherub holding aloft a huge Christmas wreath, ablaze with candles, with additional decorations in the form of a heart and a star. A pale blue border, gold rim, and the inscription “WEIHNACHTEN 1913” (Christmas Night 1913). Hand painted under the glaze in various shades of blue, banded with gold. Porcelain, approximately 8 inches (20 cm) diameter. (The first 7 plates 1910 to 1916 were slightly smaller and more convex than those date 1917 and later.) Artwork by Julius Dietz. Signed Rosenthal Germany Handgemalt (“handpainted”). This is the 4th plate in the Christmas series which was started in 1910 and ended in 2000, one of the most beautiful and highest quality Christmas series ever produced.
