DESCRIPTION Art Book. Artist Statement : ?All of the goldfish are crucian carp. 1,500 years ago, accidentally, red crucian carp were saw in pond and domesticated which called 'goldfish'. Since then crucian carp were change the form to goldfish by breeding according to people?s sense of beauty, and goldfish were continuously loved by the people across the world. When I see a goldfish, through the form and color of the goldfish, I see the figures of the artisans who brought us today?s ones over hundred years. Goldfish was born to shoulder the love of the artisans. I am one of the people who were fascinated by goldfish. So I am feeling that I am not painting the goldfish but the goldfish have me painting. I just want to paint life itself through goldfish and that is it. I feel that I just need to leave the images of the goldfish, which swimming insider my mind, on the canvas. So I don?t use any photos to paint my goldfish. It is all by my imaginations. Further more I only paint the goldfish I feel they are beautiful, just like a goldfish artisan. The day I found goldfish : It was 10 years ago, for me began to find the fascination of goldfish. I was slumping that time. One day I was so depressed, I had never ever experience till that day, I saw an old goldfish which was fed roughly at my room. I had not noticed the beauty of the goldfish till that moment, but all of the sudden, a large but quite lighting went through my whole body. "I got it!" I cried in my heart. I felt that old goldfish was beautiful, even comparing with the most colorful tropical fish. The beauty of the old goldfish that moment was deeply etched in my mind. I called the happening 'Kingyo sukui (goldfish salvation)', and I appreciate goldfish deeply from my heart.?
