Item description

Richard Thompson Vinyl 2 LP Lot Small Town Romance (Live) - Hannibal HNBL-1316 (Import) Across a Crowded Room - Polydor 422-825 421-1 Y-1 Near Mint First Pressings Condition: Near Mint Vinyl and Near Mint Cover. Vinyl was play-tested on all sides and plays really well throughout with good fidelity -- clean vinyl. Original covers are fully intact with no splits or writing. Small Town Romance is a French import, with a VG++ cover. Small Town Romance is the first live album by Richard Thompson. Before and after the "Tour From Hell" to promote the Richard and Linda Thompson album Shoot Out the Lights, Richard played solo shows in the US in 1982. Three of these shows were recorded for radio broadcasts. When Thompson left the ailing Hannibal Records label in 1984, the release of an album collated from the 1982 live recordings was negotiated as part of the amicable separation. Tracklist A1 Time To Ring Some Changes 3:04 A2 Beat The Retreat 4:45 A3 Woman Or A Man? 2:12 A4 A Heart Needs A Home 3:32 A5 For Shame Of Doing Wrong 4:00 A6 Genesis Hall 3:50 A7 Honky-Tonk Blues 3:04 B1 Small Town Romance 3:33 B2 I Want To See The Bright Lights Tonight 2:43 B3 Down Where The Drunkards Roll 4:26 B4 Love Is Bad For Business 2:37 B5 The Great Valerio 5:17 B6 Don't Let A Thief Steal Into Your Heart 3:58 B7 Never Again 2:14 Across a Crowded Room is the fourth solo album by Richard Thompson released in 1985. It remains his final collaboration with producer Joe Boyd (who had produced Shoot Out the Lights), as well as his last studio album to have been fully recorded in England. Spin wrote, "Richard's command is such that his instrument serves as an eloquent extension of his limited vocal range, punctuating and amplifying each song. He puts nimble ax-wielders like Eddie Van Halen and Adrian Belew to shame, refusing to sacrifice a single note or nuance, even at high speed. As rewarding as any you'll hear all year. Track Listing A1 When The Spell Is Broken 4:31 A2 You Don't Say 3:35 A3 I Ain't Going To Drag My Feet No More 4:22 A4 Love In A Faithless Country 5:55 B1 Fire In The Engine Room 3:39 B2 Walking Through A Wasted Land 4:01 B3 Little Blue Number 3:04 B4 She Twists The Knife Again 3:12 B5 Ghosts In The Wind 5:39 _____________________________________________ Shipping: Calculated domestic shipping via Media Mail or Priority Mail. I note any differences between vinyl and cover, and make note of any inserts, special sleeves, or potential defects. MINT (M) - Absolutely perfect in every way. Most often this is a still sealed record, records that have been opened are rarely if ever marked as Mint. NEAR MINT (NM) - A good description is that it looks like it just came from a retail store and it was opened for the first time. In other words, it?s nearly perfect, with no visible defects. VERY GOOD PLUS (VG+) - Except for a couple minor things, this could be Near Mint. Most collectors will be happy with a VG+ record, especially if on the high end (VG++). VG+ records may show slight signs of wear, including light scuffs or very light scratches that do not affect the listening experience. Covers should have only minor wear. VERY GOOD (VG) - VG records are among the biggest bargains, and for many, will be worth the money. They can lack the original gloss, may have surface noise, and some scratches may be audible, especially in soft passages. But the noise will not overpower the music. VG covers will have signs of handling, and may have minor splits. GOOD PLUS (G+) - Good+ does not mean bad! The record still plays through without skipping, but it has significant surface noise and groove wear. Cover may have significant ring wear, noticeable writing, or obvious damage. GOOD (G) - Record may have some skipping, but is otherwise listenable. I generally avoid selling Good (G) rated records unless they are highly collectible or desirable, in order to enjoy until something better comes along. Cover has major wear or seam splits that need repair, or heavy writing like radio station call letters to prevent theft. Feel free to contact me with any specific questions.
