Item description
THE MARTIAN CHRONICLES
Archival non-fading Reproduction dust jacket
for the first issue book and very early issues by
Doubleday Company
Ray Douglas Bradbury
(Ray Bradbury)
Phantom Bookshop offers this REPRODUCTION DUST JACKET (or so-called facsimile) for the first issue book The Martian Chronicles issued in 1950 by The Doubleday Company. NOTE: THIS NOT AN ORIGINAL DUST JACKET, but a reproduction of the dust jacket that was issued with the first edition, first issue book. Ray Bradbury really disliked this jacket design, but the book is a classic and the jacket design is set in time.
This jacket will fit early printings and early Book Club editions bound in cloth printed by Doubleday. If you have questions on size I can adjust the jacket to fit your book. and your book will look better. NO BOOK IS INCLUDED. A high quality rendered dust jacket that will also fit subsequent early printings by Doubleday. If you are not sure of the size, send dimensions. In the production of these reproduction jackets I use expensive archival inks that will not fade over time and will last over one hundred years with care. The paper used is also acid free and your jacket comes enclosed in a Mylar protector that is removable. I send my jackets out pre-folded that are fit precisely over a first edition book. I can also send them unfolded if requested.
The jacket was rendered and printed by miniature art and engraving artist John Anthony Miller and sold exclusively by Phantom Bookshop in Ventura, California.
Please note: I do my best to send orders out quickly but find I now sometimes have delays due to demand. Each jacket is printed by myself to ensure quality control and is a rather time-consuming process. Please be patient,
I note on my jackets (on the rear jacket inner flap), discretely, that they are not originals.
Comments
"John's unique artistry was evident as soon as I saw The Great Gatsby dust jacket. Having seen scores of facsimile jackets, John's work is in a completely different league. The rich tonal quality of the colors is breathtaking and the weight of the paper is carefully considered. He satisfied the needs of the most demanding client, even during a personally trying time. I look forward to doing continued business with him in the future and give him my highest recommendation." -Ryan Dohm, Profiles in History
