Both here were factory chambered for the powerful .45 Colt cartridge. Shown with its detachable shoulder stock, the Buntline Special revolver (S.N. 28826) has a 16" barrel and is one of 11 of this scarce model made by Colt's in 1876. The Sheriff's Model revolver (S.N. 149895) was manufactured in 1893 and has a 4" barrel. Guns are from the collection of Thomas W. Burnham; transparency by Bob Kelly, Papin Studio, St. Louis, Mo.
