This release beats all previous with a new 16x9 HD widescreen transfer from the original camera negatives. Twenty years ago, a UFO hovers over a desert community, bathing a prospector, a boy, and a girl in an eerie light and fog. Now, the kids have grown up to be Cybill Shepherd, satellite research expert/scientific-genius daughter of high-tech industrialist Raymond Burr, and the late Jan-Michael Vincent, deputy to Martin Landau, the marshall of the desert town Little Creek. The prospector (Vinnie Schiavelli, the whining inmate from 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest') hasn't aged at all; he's living in a cave near Little Creek and has taken to mutilating people and rancher Neville Brand's cattle with a glowing laser beam rod that burns flesh, and throwing spare parts through a weird glowing wormhole tunnel that is his direct line to the saucer people. While investigating strange emanations from rocks and other clues, Shepherd and Vincent eventually learn the secret of the saucer people and their true intent. The movie can be watched with or without hostess Katarina Leigh Waters Nightmare Theatre quips.
