In contrast Yesterday opens with Peter alone at the piano for the first half chorus, joined then by full orchestra. This tune is normally played in a minor key but, at one point, it is Peter's pleasure to play it in a major key for a really interesting effect. Generally, the orchestration throughout the album makes liberal use of strings, French horn and reeds. This the art of popular piano playing at it's best!
