This is a classic vintage PANASONIC RS-836A Stereo 8 Track Tape Player AM-FM Boombox with detachable AC cord. The exterior is in nice condition with a few minor scratches. When plugged into the AC the radio works great. Sound is excellent! Antenna is still in prime working condition. Not sure what the "Automatic Program" button on top is supposed to do, but in pressing it, the number 2 didn't change. The battery compartment shows the effects of time with some graying/greening of the springs, but I cleaned up the contact ends and since one of the positive contacts was partially missing (see last two photos), I inserted a small piece of aluminum foil to bridge the gap and was able to get the unit to play on battery power (4 C batteries, not included). The tape deck works for a few minutes, but then drags down to a slow drawl. It might need a new belt, but that's beyond my expertise. Photos are of actual item you will receive.
