#34 in the Nancy Drew series. Grosset and Dunlap Book Club Edition, Type 1, Set 1. Original copyright was 1956, with first Grosset printing in 1957, but this is a Book Club Edition with a 1959 printing and copyright date as well. Type 1 was in print until 1962 (when the picture book Book Club Edition, Type 2, with the blank yellow back cover were published). Only Type 1 has the Polly Bolian art and the full-color glossy frontispiece replica of the front cover, and also an illustrated back of the dust jacket, along with some plain line illustrations by Bolian throughout the text. Not rare, but certainly a conversation piece and much appreciated by collectors. Small prior owner name sticker on the front free endpaper. Minor hinge tracking at both hinges. Clean, lovely book. Dust jacket , while attractive, has some minor chipping at the top and bottom of the spine, and light stain at center bottom of front of the jacket. Protected in mylar cover. Great addition to any Nancy fan's library.
