Brand new factory sealed dvd-r from Reel Vault is Out Of Print (OOP) in all formats and no longer being produced. Reel Vault is a public domain label not known for very good print sources.
No where is it noted so I must assume this is the old school square frame and not widescreen. It could be letterboxed, but I doubt it.
I expect this to look like a grindhouse film with damage to the print, speckling, faded color, scratches, etc. It may even be taken from a tape source and could suffer from rolling lines or static, but it's the only way to see it for now.
In the midst of his successful run as the human protagonist of Disney's 'Love Bug' movies, Dean Jones made this belated 'Absent-Minded Professor' rip-off, his first European movie.
Jones stars as Dr. Peter Denwell, amiable chemist at the "Scientific Institute", whose chronic forgetfulness is blamed for the misplacement of Virus D, a deadly biological viral weapon which has actually been stolen by members of a criminal organization. Fired on the point for finally declaring his romantic feelings for pretty co-worker Irene, Peter surrenders his post without a fight, prompting his beloved to ask, "Haven't you fought for anything you really cared about?"
Our hero realizes the importance of this, as slimy rival Harold swoops in to take Peter's place with Irene, and as his life is further complicated by a potion sent by a colleague in Bombay that produces temporary invisibilty--which goes to work on him just as a pair of bungling 'Home Alone'-like thugs (including a Peter Lorre imitator) try to kidnap him to work with the stolen virus.
Seltzer battles, pie fights, soup slurping and fart jokes ensue, as do a supporting role from Dylan a shaggy dog that our hero owns and talks to endlessly plus he drives a Volkswagen-type car. The film makes all the requisite nods to the Disney universe (and 'Dylan Dog'?).
