Vintage original 13.25 x 30 in. Australian daybill poster from the 1960's epic adventure/drama biopic, SPARTACUS, released in 1960 by Universal-International and directed by Stanley Kubrick. Based upon the novel by Howard Fast and boasting a screenplay by Dalton Trumbo, the slave Spartacus survives brutal training as a gladiator and leads a violent revolt against the decadent Roman Republic, as the ambitious Crassus seeks to gain power by crushing the uprising. The cast includes Kirk Douglas, Laurence Olivier, Jean Simmons, Charles Laughton, Peter Ustinov, John Gavin, Nina Foch, John Ireland, and Herbert Lom. Printed for the film's original theatrical release in Australia, this daybill poster is a stone lithograph, which produces very fine detail and beautiful, rich colors. This example has been dry-mounted to a thick piece of black cardstock and has two rectangular pieces of wood on the verso (presumably to protect it). It will be shipped flat and well-packed to prevent damage while in transit.
