The response was hand written on the reverse side of the original postmarked transmittal envelope. The Envelope original Fan Letter was torn in half and the envelope was taped together from one (Front) Side. This is part of an extremely rare collection I will be listing in the months ahead. This collection was originally acquired by Bob Allen a well known celebrity autograph hound and collector. Mr. Allen collected discarded items from Katharine Hepburn's trash outside her Town House on 244 East 49th St. in New York City during a 4 year period from 1988-1992. There are also some pieces from her Connecticut Addresses. Upon request I will include a COPY of of a letter from Mr. Allen stating these facts. Miss Hepburn would hand write responses directly on her fan mail and her secretary who I believe was either Sharon Powers or Phyllis Wilbourn would then type them up on Miss Hepburn's stationary. Many of these letters show a an often bizarre side of Miss. Hepburn. You get an insight to a personal side of her that was not well known. The majority of the handwritten items are not signed because they were intended for only her secretary to see and document her responses. Miss Hepburn also destroyed many of the items by tearing them in half, as they were intended for the trash. These were later salvaged and then some were taped back together.
