Item description

Grow your own Jade Plants from unrooted Cuttings Unrooted Jade Plant cuttings -2-3" in height. House Plant, Plant Cutting, Jade Plant, Cutting, Crassula ovata, Jade Plant, Succulent, Live House Plant, Jade Tree, Money Tree, Lucky Tree, tropical plant These are jade plants without roots- in a package deal to maximize your value when considered with shipping. (similar cost to ship one cutting or several) Your cuttings will not have roots- and may be flattened, A few leaves will likely fall off. Don't throw the leaves away. Set them on the surface of a pot with soil and they will eventually form plants as well- but will take several months. Many people enjoy growing jade plants at home because they are easy to care for and lovely to look at. What many people do not know is that starting a jade plant from a stem cutting is almost as easy as caring for jade plants. Growing jade plants from cuttings starts with taking the cutting or purchasing them from us. The next step for starting a jade plant from a cutting is to allow the cutting to dry. The wound on the jade plant cutting you have taken will be wet and will invite disease if you try to root it wet. Allow the jade plant cutting to rest in a dry, preferably warm, spot until a callous develops (in about one to two weeks). In order to further make sure that disease does not infect the jade plant cutting, you can dust the open wound with rooting hormone, which will also contain an anti-fungal compound. Once the cut on the jade plant cutting has dried, place the cutting into a commercial potting mixture. When rooting a jade plant, water sparingly so that the potting mixture is only damp until the jade plant cutting takes root. Do not place in water. After it has rooted, you can treat it as you would a normal jade plant. =t=t=t=t=t=t=t=t=t Tropical plant- may be damaged if shipped in cold weather (Nov-March) -Winter shipping is at buyer's risk =t=t=t=t=t=t=t=t=t=t Care of Jade Plant Crassula ovata, Crassula argentea, Crassula portulacea, Crassula obliqua Family: Crassulaceae Origin: South Africa - Cape Province Small shrub 2-5 ft Full sun Shade Semi-shade Moderate water White/off-white flowers Ornamental foliage Seaside, salt tolerant plant Cultivated as a house plant in Europe and America for over a hundred years. Generally, it is a very easy and productive plant to grow, provided its needs are understood and met. Jades, and all other Crassulas are succulent plants, in that they have the ability to store water in its leaves, stems, and roots. Jade plants are best grown in very bright sunlight with low humidity, however if the plant is accustomed to dimmer light, you must move it into the sun in stages. Jades will sunburn if they are not used to the full sun. Jades are best grown between 55F at night and 75-80F during the day, however they will tolerate temperatures down to 40F. They should be repotted every two to three years. Use a well drained commercial potting soil mixed equally with sharp builder sand, and a scoop of bone meal added. Jade plants have an active and a dormant growing cycle. Watering and feeding are determined by the cycle. During the spring and summer months keep the soil slightly moist . Water liberally, approximately once per week but allow for slight drying between watering. Remove any excess water from pot saucer. Fertilize with a 10-20-10 or 5-10-5 ratio soluble plant food every two weeks. African violet food works very well for most succulents. Keep plant dry during the winter months as plant has a slight dormancy. Do not fertilize from November through March. Typically, all healthy Jades will bloom, usually around Christmas in the northern hemisphere. Blooming is triggered by the natural shortening of the days. If your plant is in a room which usually has lights turned on at night, it will more than likely fail to bloom for you. The plant is said to bring good luck and prosperity in the house Normal shipping for this item is Canada Post Non-Standard Lettermail -no Tracking =s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s=s==s=s=s=s=s=s=s= Shipping of Seeds and Cuttings: Orders are shipped via Canada Post Mail unless otherwise specified.
