Item description

In Russian. Short description: Picasso's Graphics. Moscow, Iskusstvo, 1968. Essays on the life and work of the artist by I.G. Ehrenburg and M.V. Alpatov. Among the various forms of art in which Picasso excelled, graphic arts occupied a significant place. Picasso was not only a great painter and sculptor but also an excellent draftsman and engraver. From his early days in art, he dedicated much of his energy to drawing and engraving. Throughout his life, graphic art accompanied his paintings. Those close to the artist testified that in the evening and on dark winter days when painting with colors was impossible, he never parted with his pencil. Drawing was a living necessity for Picasso; at times, it turned into a real itch for drawing, and then he was ready to cover any surface he could find with his sketches. This album presents Picasso's graphic works, featuring 126 color and tone illustrations accompanied by comments from the authors I.G. Ehrenburg and M.V. Alpatov on the artist's life and creativity.
