You are buying 1 Gingko tree also called maidenhair tree 6-12" in height in a 1qt. pot. If you're looking for a tree with unusually shaped leaves, the taste of almond and the ability to live for a thousand years, you might be interested in the the prehistoric survivor known as a ginkgo tree (Ginkgo biloba). Commonly called maidenhair tree for its duck-foot or fan-shaped leaves, ginkgo is in a phylum -- plant category -- by itself. Once inhabiting the Earth with its many cousins, Ginkgo biloba is the only surviving species of the Ginkgoales-- a group of prehistoric gymnosperms, or seed-bearing plants. These tree are native to China are easily grown in average-medium moisture soil and in full sun. Prefers moist, sandy, well drained soil. Tolerant of a wide range of soil conditions including both alkaline and acidic soils and compacted soils. Also tolerant of saline conditions air pollution and heat. Adapts well to most urban environments. Does well in zones 3-8 and reaches heights of 50 to 80' and spreads of 30-40'. The average growth per year is 6-12". Very deer tolerant, have no serious insect or disease problems. Excellent selection for a variety of uses including, lawn tree, street tree or shade tree.
