Item description

Listed is a 1926 German 3 Reichsmark silver commemorative coin transformed into a pendant and issued during the Weimar Republic to celebrate the 700th anniversary of Lübeck's freedom. This coin was minted during a period of economic and political instability in Germany following World War I, including hyperinflation. It features the double-headed eagle, a symbol from Lübeck's coat of arms, reflecting the city's historical importance as a Hanseatic trading center. The coin is made of .500 silver and weighs just under 15 grams. This commemorative issue had a relatively small mintage of 200,000 pieces. Roughly the same size as a US half dollar coin. See photos.
