Item description

Fan Engineering: An Engineer's Handbook, 6th edition, edited by Robert Jorgensen (1961 Leatherette w/o DJ) Editor: Robert Jorgensen (1926-2019) Publisher: Buffalo Forge Company Buffalo, NY U.S.A. 1961 Written as an engineering handbook, experience has shown it is often used as a textbook. For this reason, many physical phenomena have been explained in more detail than is usual for a handbook. Most of the 540 equations are utilitarian rather than explanatory. There are 145 tables and 185 charts containing valuable engineering information. Several charts and diagrams are on fold-out pages, pp25-6, and pp569-572. X + 700pp. This 1961 6th edition is the first under the editorship of Robert Jorgensen (1926-2019). Hardcover has black flexible leatherette covers with gold lettering on front and spine, but no DJ. Former owner's name stamped into front cover, but scratched out to hide prior ownership. Nevertheless, Interior is tight, clean and unmarked. Even fold-outs are intact and pristine. Size: 12mo - over 6 - 7" tall, 710pp Condition: Good plus Leatherette w/o DJ– Always privately owned. Copyright 1961. Earlier editions were 1948, 1938, 1933, 1925 and 1914. Printed in U.S.A. Print-line: 10-61-20M. No ISBN or LCCN. MSR = $10.00. Notes on Condition/Edition ratings: Fine – means like new, but any book produced over 10 years ago isn't “brand new” or even “new.” Booksellers needed some word to describe this... Like New – A new book, no marks no damage (except maybe remainder marks or shelf-wear) except not obtained directly from the publisher or in packaging from the publisher. Very Good – How you or I might take care of a book, closer to “as new” than standard. Might show ownership. Good – How someone else might take care of a book. Also referred to as “standard.” This is the most likely condition for books of this age title, shows the book has been read or previously owned. Acceptable – How a child, student or a librarian might take care of a book. (Either trying to make sure someone doesn't steal it by plastering ownership everywhere, filled it with copious notes or a book that has been damaged.) Poor – Combination of “acceptable” factors above. Most likely with water damage as well. Might have missing pages (you should ask). Near – Means “almost” in an optimistic sense. e.g., “Near Fine” means very good, but on the high end. 1st Thus – Unique somehow, maybe 1st paperback, new illustrator, misprint or even the 1st edition. A collector might desire this copy. Thanks for looking!
