Item description

Five-disc set of family films. 'Ice Age' (2002) is an animated feature set at the dawn of the great ice age. A group of three animals, Sid the sloth, Manfred the mammal, and Diego the sabre-toothed tiger embark upon an epic journey to help return a human baby to its father. They risk life and limb as they traverse boiling lava pits and journey through dangerous ice caves to complete their mission. Along the way they also meet Scrat, a squirrel-rat determined to plant an acorn in a glacier. The film features the voices of John Leguizamo, Denis Leary and Jack Black. 'Chicken Run' (2000), an animated pastiche of 'The Great Escape, is 'Wallace and Gromit' progenitor Nick Park's first big screen outing. Life on Tweedy's Chicken Farm is far from pleasant for the inmates; they are badly treated by Mr Tweedy and his domineering wife, and kept alive only as long as they keep producing eggs. The various attempts by Ginger the hen (Julia Sawalha) to escape have failed due to the lethargy and downright incompetence of her fellow prisoners, but when Rocky (Mel Gibson) - the famous Flying Rooster - crash lands in the farm, she sees the chance she has been waiting for: Rocky can teach everyone how to fly, and they can stage a mass break-out. However, the braggardly Rocky is not all that he seems. Can he really help Ginger and the others find freedom before Mrs Tweedy (Miranda Richardson) hatches her fowl plan to turn them all into chicken pies? 'James and the Giant Peach' (1996), based on the children's novel by Roald Dahl, incorporates a mixture of live action for the 'out-of-peach' sequences and animation for the main part of the story. When his parents are killed by a giant rhino, James Henry Trotter (Paul Terry) has to live with (and skivvy for) his nasty aunts Spiker (Joanna Lumley) and Sponge (Miriam Margolyes). However, after he is given magic crocodile tongues by a stranger, amazing things begin to happen. James escapes from his aunts by climbing inside a giant peach, and setting off with all the friendly, talking insects who live inside it. In 'Home Alone' (1990), ten-year-old Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) is banished to his room while his family prepare for a Christmas trip to Europe. He wakes up to find they have inadvertently left without him. Kevin must cope not only with life on his own but also with the threat of two persistent, albeit incompetent, burglars. Meanwhile, his mother vainly tries to find a way to get back home. 'Mrs Doubtfire' (1993), directed by Chris Columbus ('Home Alone'), stars Robin Williams as difficult actor and husband, Daniel Hillard. After an acrimonious separation from his wife (Sally Field), Daniel receives a court order limiting his visits to his children. As a result he dresses up as a Scottish nanny - and manages to get gainful employment with his ex-wife looking after his own kids! Please note this DVD is region 2 and will only work in the following regions Japan, Europe, South Africa, the Middle East (including Egypt) and Greenland, Unless you have a multi-regional DVD Player.
